Online Grant Application Instructions
In general, a grant application can be submitted to the Foundation if the purpose for which the grant is applied for is:
- In full accord with the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church,
- In full accord with the mission of the Diocese of Rapid City, and
- In full accord with the mission of the Western South Dakota Catholic Foundation.
The mission statements of the Diocese of Rapid City and the Foundation are provided below.
The entity making an application for a grant must:
- Have its principal office within the Diocese of Rapid City, and
- Be listed in The Official Catholic Directory under the Diocese of Rapid City or have received formal notification of approval of the Bishop of Rapid City.
All grants must be for projects or programs for the current or upcoming fiscal years only. For projects or programs which are multi year, applicants must reapply each year. Applications for multi year projects or programs must include a plan which outlines the anticipated sources of
funding for future support.
Grant applications for parish programs or projects must be signed by the Pastor of the parish for which the grant is requested. Grant requests from other eligible Catholic organizations must be signed by the most senior executive of that organization.
Grant applications must be accompanied by a copy of the most recent financial statement, balance sheet and operating statement, for the entity applying for the grant. Successful applicants must provide the Foundation an accounting of the use of the grant funds.
Grant requests for capital campaigns will not be considered.
