Surgite Eamus Mass & Dinner

Celebrating the gift of the priesthood and supporting the formation of future priests.

The call to priesthood is a gift from God that blesses the entire Church. The Surgite Eamus Mass & Dinner brings together Catholics from across western South Dakota to celebrate priestly vocations and support the formation of future priests for the Diocese of Rapid City.

Celebrating Vocations and Supporting Our Future Priests

Every priestly vocation is a gift to the entire Church. Through their ministry, priests bring Christ to countless lives through the sacraments, preaching and pastoral care. The Surgite Eamus brings Catholics together to celebrate the gift of the priesthood and support the men preparing to serve the Church in western South Dakota.

Watch Deacon Josiah Hanson share his vocation story from this year’s dinner.

At the Surgite Eamus Mass & Dinner, Bishop Scott Bullock shared the stories behind two chalices, his personal chalice and the historic chalice of Bishop John J. Lawler, who served the Diocese of Rapid City for 32 years.

Bishop Bullock reflected on the priests and faithful who came before us and the legacy of faith they helped build. Their generosity and sacrifice continue to shape the Church today.
